We’re debating this topic in class.
What are the pros and cons?
My fault…
I meant lowering the age to sixteen.
I appreciate everyone’s input, but I need concrete sources that can be sited in an actual debate.

Members of congress are looking at allowing online gambling again, stating that banning net gambling damaged U.S.-European Union trade ties.
My feeling is that if Gambling is allowed in person, I don’t see what the problem is on the net.
What do you think? Should the ban be uplifted?

So my mom was playing this online poker game that she downloaded to her computer. She was playing and won a huge sum of money. ($20,000). She lives in the state of New York and the money came from Canada where the gambling company is located. Is this legal? Please help! I cannot get her to contact a lawyer. I am an adult by the way, not a little kid asking this.
Thanks

I realize the matters of crimes dealing with casinoes and gambling, but there are other reasons why gambling hurts a community and the financials to a community. Please do not give me a yes or no answer, but give me an open-ended question.

Is it illegal to be gambling on public property such as shooting dice or playing dominos for money on the sidewalk?

GameMaster asked:
If I were to create a website that sold items in the style of gambling, do you think this would be illegal? I don’t see how there could be any laws online since the website isn’t only one country.

zee_prime asked: I live in NZ. A few years ago the only gambling here was horse racing using the totalisator, not private bookmakers, a state lottery called Lucky Kiwis, and of course private gambling like poker games. It wasn’t a serious social problem back then. Now, gambling has been made easier. We’ve now got casinos, online gambling, scratch-and-win tickets, which you buy, scratch and if you’re lucky, get a prize. and what we call pokie machines. In Britain they call them one-armed bandits. It’s easier to lose money fast gambling than with any other vice, especially if it doesn’t require any skill. Horse racing required skill and knowledge. Now pokies are a major problem here. Some of the profits are taxed and given to charities. But the social problems they cause cost us far more than they pay back. I want to write a story about it. Please tell me about your country’s experience with different forms of gambling.
Gambling is in NZ a way to take money from the poor to give to the rich. I want material for a story condemning our over-liberal gambling laws. Please help.
